How safe is permanent make up?

Thursday, September 10, 2020

Permanent makeup has become increasingly popular because it reduces the amount of time that you have to spend getting ready each day. These treatments are often compared to tattoos since they are also referred to as micro-pigmentation. For this reason, it's important to understand exactly what to expect and what will be expected of you.

Permanent makeup can be used on various areas including the eyebrows and lips. Most practitioners use an anesthetic in order to make the procedure easier to handle since these are sensitive areas of your face. Once complete, you should not need any touch ups for at least one month.

While allergic reactions are rare, it's not impossible. Sometimes you could have no reaction to several colours but your body reacts negatively to one colour in particular. Another possible risk is the formation of keloids which is scar tissue that may develop. However, this is more likely to occur during the removal of permanent makeup rather than the initial application.

It is also important to understand the risk of infection. If the practitioner does not follow proper health and safety standards, infections can be transmitted. Make sure that you are in a clean environment and the practitioner uses a fresh set of gloves and clean tools. If you have any doubts, trust your instincts and get out of there!

As the customer, it is important that you know what you want and you discuss this with the practitioner when you make the appointment. Reiterate and show them photos of what you want again when you arrive for your appointment. It's also important that the salon has all the necessary licenses and qualifications. This makeup is not going to wash off so you have a good mind to be cautious of trusting just anybody with your face. You can even ask to see their portfolio and look for reviews online to find out more about what previous customers have to say. You should also make sure that you are not simply following the latest trend and choose permanent makeup that you really will love years later.
