Why you need a callous peel

Thursday, March 25, 2021

You don't need to spend hours on your feet each day to develop callouses and cracked heels. There are a number of factors that can cause your feet to look less than appealing. If left untreated, dry and cracked skin can even become painful. The key is to take action sooner rather than later.

What is a callous peel?

As the name suggests, this treatment removes that dry layer of skin on your feet to reveal a soft, smooth and healthy layer beneath. Your feet will also be better hydrated so they will not be as prone to cracking.

When should you avoid this treatment?

If your feet are particularly painful or you have serious damage in terms of cracked heels and callouses, you may want to consult a podiatrist before scheduling an appointment for a callous peel. You might need to take a few extra measures before you can enjoy the benefits of a callous peel but it will be worth the wait!

How often do you need a callous peel?

This will depend on you and your body. Everyone is different and some people have naturally harder skin than others. If your feet tend to become dry and hard fairly quickly, you will need treatments on a more regular basis. It can also depend on the weather and how exposed your feet are to the elements.

Don't forget to ask about maintenance in between callous peel treatments! The technician will be able to assess your feet, skin type and make recommendations accordingly. As mentioned above, everyone is different so this needs to be kept in mind even between sessions.
